Terms of Service

Effective 2026-07-25

What this is

Otherside Dreams is a shared, anonymous ledger of dreams. By using the site you agree to these terms.

Anonymity, and no accounts

There are no user accounts. When you record a dream you receive a secret dream number; it is the only key to that entry. We do not ask who you are, and entries are displayed without any authorship.

Your dreams, your words

You keep whatever ownership you have in what you write. By recording a dream you grant Otherside Dreams a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store it, to display it publicly and anonymously as part of the ledger, and to include it in the anonymous public exports of the ledger — the same dreams in machine-readable form, listed on the Data page, so the collection can be read, studied, and syndicated.

Those exports carry the dream and its survey answers and nothing else: never your dream number, never an email address, never anything from the visit log. Deleting a dream removes it from the exports too, because they are generated from the live ledger each time they are requested. We ask anyone using the data to credit Otherside Dreams and link back, but we do not sell it or license it exclusively to anyone.

The rules

Entries must follow the recording rules: dream content only — no interpretation, backstory, or real-life explanation; no profanity or lewd speech (if something spoke it, quote it with vowels replaced by *); no identifying information about yourself or others. We may remove entries that break these rules, without notice.

Deletion

Your dream number deletes your dream, from the Delete page. This browser also remembers dreams recorded here. If you lose the number and clear this browser, no one can delete the entry for you — keep it safe.

Email you give us

Everything here works without an email address. If you subscribe on the home page or the confirmation screen, we use your address only to send the monthly dispatch, and every dispatch includes a way to unsubscribe. If you ask for a delete link on the confirmation screen, we store that address only to send you that one email; it is never attached to the dream itself.

Anonymous visit analytics

To understand roughly where our visitors are in the world and how many people stop by, we keep a small, privacy-preserving log of visits. For each day you visit, we store an approximate location (country, region, and city, estimated from your network address) alongside a one-way hashed fingerprint that cannot be turned back into your address. We do not store your raw IP address for this, it is not tied to your identity, and it is never linked to any dream you record. We also note the first page you land on each day and, when your browser sends one, the domain of the site that referred you (never the full address). These records are automatically deleted after nine months.

Not advice

Dreams and anything surrounding them on this site are shared for reflection and curiosity. Nothing here is medical, psychological, or any other kind of professional advice.

As-is

The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We may change, interrupt, or end the service at any time.

Fair use of the service

To keep the ledger human, recording is limited — currently up to 10 dreams per day — and automated or abusive use may be throttled or blocked.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
